Organization: Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) Salary: Highly competitive salary negotiable based upon qualifications and experience plus excellent benefits. Close Date: August 31, 2012 Job Description: MVRPC was formed in 1964 in response to the increasing need for a voluntary association of governments that could study issues and propose solutions to regional problems. In 1973, MVRPC was designated by the governor as a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) to perform transportation planning activities in the Dayton Metro Region. The regional geographic area includes a growing population of about 947,000. Included are all of Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery and Preble Counties and parts of northern Warren County. MVRPC is seeking an Executive Director to lead this 22 FTE organization with a $4.6 million annual budget. Responsible to a 77-Member Commission comprised of 53 local government representatives and 24 non-government representatives. The Executive Director works most closely with a 20-member Executive Committee. The current Director is retiring after 30 years of MVRPC service. Requires a Bachelor degree in a related field; advanced degree is highly desirable. Ten years of progressively responsible experience, including five to seven years planning experience; three to five years of executive level transportation planning experience is highly desirable. Some private sector experience would be a plus. Knowledge of transportation, land use and environmental quality planning is important. Must be able to manage and implement multiple complex projects/programs and services with delivery in a timely manner through competent technical staff. Requires excellent oral/written communications, public presentation and interpersonal skills. Must have an outgoing, energetic, creative style.
