Organization: City of Klamath Falls, Oregon Salary: The position offers a competitive compensation package. Close Date: The first review of resumes will occur on September 10. Job Description: Klamath Falls, a south-central Oregon community of 20,840 residents (42,000 including the Urban Growth Boundary) has a diversified economy that includes tourism, two colleges, several manufacturers, and an Air National Guard F-15 pilot training facility. Klamath Falls is known as the City of Sunshine with nearly 300 days of sunshine each year. The City of Klamath Falls operates under the council-manager form of government. The City Council consists of five members who are directly elected by ward to staggered four-year terms and a Mayor elected at-large to a four-year term. The City has had three City Managers in the last 27 years all of whom left voluntarily. The City is a full-service organization including water and wastewater utilities, a commercial airport, and a municipal court. The City has an annual operating budget of $28 million, a 2012-13 Capital Improvement Program of budget of $13.1 million, and 158 FTE’s. The minimum job requirements are: 1) a Bachelor’s degree with a Masters in public administration, business, planning, or other related fields desired; and 2) five to ten years of local government management experience. The City is seeking a strong, visionary leader with substantial economic development experience. Local government experience in a rural community is a plus.
