DIRECTOR OF JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES
Compensation: Salary and benefits are negotiable and are anticipated to be highly competitive.



Hamilton County is located in the southwest corner of Ohio and covers 414 square miles. It is seated in Cincinnati and contains 21 cities, 16 villages (unincorporated communities with less than 5,000 residents) and 12 townships (unincorporated areas). The County is the third largest in Ohio and has surfaced as the business hub for a tri¬county region of more than 1.95 million people. Responsibility for County government administration is vested in a three-person Board of County Commissioners elected at-large to four-year terms. The Board elects its own president. The Board delegates much of its administrative authority to a professional County Administrator. The Director of Job and Family Services is appointed by the Board and reports to the Board through the County Administrator. Typically, the County Administrator recruits for Board appointed positions and recommends final candidates to the Board. The current County budget is about $1.2B and there are about 6,300 FTE employees.
The Director of Job and Family Services has a budget of $l.1B and employs 1,600 FTE's. Services include cash assistance, Food Stamps, Medicaid, Child Care, Adult Protection Services, Workforce Development Services, Child Support and Children’s Services. Requires the equivalent of Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Public Administration, Business Administration (or related) combined with significant successful and progressive experience in a human services agency, municipal or county government of comparable size and complexity. For accreditation purposes, an advanced degree from an accredited program of social work or other related human services field is preferred. Experience at the department head, assistant or major division head level of a large culturally diversified metropolitan Human Services agency is strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership skills and a highly collaborative and participatory management/leadership style are essential including a demonstrated understanding of the issues involved in providing services for individuals, family, and children through progressively responsible experience in direct service or administration in human services or in a field directly related to the services being provided. It is suggested that applicants have management skills which enable him or her to utilize the organization’s human and financial resources effectively and to coordinate the organization’s services with those provided by other community resources.
