Organization: City of Chandler, AZ Salary: The salary range for this position is $78,828-$110,744 with the starting salary doq. Job Description: With a growing population of 242,000, Chandler, Arizona is located in the southeast portion of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Chandler is known as the “Silicon Desert” due to its many high tech employers including Intel and Microchip. The City which operates under the council-manager form government is a full-service organization with 1,550 FTE’s and an $804 million budget. The Purchasing and Materials Manager who manages the City’s Purchasing and Central Supply Divisions ($1,032,000 budget and 12.0 FTE’s) has frequent contact with Department Directors and others to acquire the goods and services needed by the City. The Purchasing and Materials Manager oversees and is involved in the Purchasing and Central Supply Divisions’ operations including but not limited to preparing procurement bid announcements and contracts; participating in the development of specifications; and reviewing, evaluating, and approving specifications for issuing and awarding bids. Additionally the selected candidate is expected to identify opportunities for improving procurement processes and end results. The minimum job requirements are: 1) Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Business Administration, or related field; 2) at least six years’ experience in a professional capacity involving the procurement of a wide variety of materials, equipment, construction, contractual, and professional provider services with at least two years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity in a government procurement office; and 3) be bondable and be a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) or Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO). Consideration will be given to any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
