Organization: The Dalles, Oregon Salary: The salary range for the City Manager is $105,000 – $120,000 annually plus full benefit package. Job Description: With a population of 14,400, The Dalles, Oregon, is located in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge 85 miles east of Portland, Oregon. The Dalles’ growing economy includes tourism, agriculture, and thriving industries including Google’s new data center and campus. The City utilizes the council-manager form of government. The City Council consists of four members nominated from districts and elected at-large to four-year staggered terms and a Councilor at-large who serves a two-year term. The Mayor who cannot vote on Council agenda items is elected at-large and serves a two-year term. There are no term limits, and all elections are nonpartisan. The City Manager is responsible for overseeing City operations and providing policy guidance to the City Council. The last City Manager was in the position for 18 years. The City is a full-service municipality including an airport, urban renewal, and water and wastewater utilities. The City has a $62 million annual budget and 100 FTE’s. The minimum job requirements are: 1) Bachelor’s Degree and evidence of continued professional development; and 2) five years of local government management experience.
