Organization: MetroPlan Orlando Salary: Negotiable DOQ Close Date: 4/27/2018 Job Description: This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a regional metropolitan planning organization that has earned an outstanding reputation. This recruitment is taking place because the current, long-time Executive Director is retiring. You’ll be working with a collegial board of directors and a very talented staff in a prosperous and fast-growing region. The organization is in a strong position with its track record, current program and financial standing. This will allow the new Executive Director substantial latitude to advance the region’s transportation system. MetroPlan Orlando leads transportation planning efforts in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties. It works with elected officials, industry experts, and citizens to set transportation priorities and shape a future system that offers travel options. As the region’s federally designated metropolitan planning organization (MPO), MetroPlan Orlando determines how federal and state transportation dollars are spent in the region to implement its long range transportation plan. The MetroPlan Orlando’s 20-member board is responsible for the transportation planning process in the three-county area. Board members are big-picture focused and work together in a collaborative fashion. Membership includes representation from member governments and the region’s transportation operating agencies. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in transportation planning, urban or regional planning, engineering, public administration or business administration (a Masters’ degree is preferred); at least ten years' experience directing an organization or business unit with previous transportation planning experience; AICP certification preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
