Organization: Village of Matteson, Illinois Salary: $85,000 to $95,000 Close Date: Job Description: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR Located just 25 miles south of the Chicago loop, the Village of Matteson, IL (pop. 16,016) is a vibrant, progressive, upper middle income, racially diverse community that is one of the fastest growing in the Chicago area. Matteson serves as a regional retail hub, and has active commercial, retail and residential developments. The Village is recruiting a Director of Community Development to lead a professional team of 15 that includes planning, community affairs, building inspections and permits, construction and capital projects, and who also facilitates a dynamic planning commission. The Director is appointed by the Village President with consent of the Board and will report to the Village Administrator. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration or related field and 5-7 years of progressively responsible planning or closely related experience. A Master�s degree preferred. Proven leadership abilities, knowledge of tax increment financing, strategic planning and team management are also required. The starting salary is expected to be between $85,000 and $95,000. Residency in the Village is required within 12 months of hire.
