Job Description:

As a Gulf Coast community with a growing population of 325,733 residents, Corpus Christi covers 460+ square miles and is rated 36 among the top 150 best managed cities in Texas. The Port of Corpus Christi is the 4th largest international seaport in the U.S. and is a center for petrochemical manufacturing, large-scale fabrication, marine research, maritime shipping, and tourism. The community is home to the 12,000-student campus of Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and the 11,500 student Del Mar College.

Corpus Christi is a full-service-plus city providing a commercial airport, marina, gas utility, 10,000-seat arena and convention center, minor league baseball stadium, 2 golf courses, and several museums and other cultural attractions in addition to traditional City services.

The City of Corpus Christi has operated under the council-manager form of government since 1945. The City Council consists of a Mayor and 8 Council Members elected to 2-year terms. The Mayor and 3 of the Council Members are elected at-large and the other 5 Council Members are elected by districts. The City has a total annual budget of $929M of which $253M is the general fund. Corpus Christi employs 3,160.33 FTE’s.

The minimum job requirements are: A bachelor degree with specialization in Government, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field, Master degree preferred (MPA or MBA), combined with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience directing and managing a municipal government department or organization, with five (5) years of executive level management experience in a comparable community or organization. A valid driver's license is required at time of hire.
