Finance Director

Known as the "Venice of America," world renowned Fort Lauderdale is located in an oceanfront setting on Florida's southeast coast. It is the largest municipality in Broward County and serves as the region’s governmental, cultural and business hub.

Fort Lauderdale functions with a City Commission/City Manager form of government. The City Commission, comprised of a Mayor and four Commissioners, appoints the City Manager, City Clerk, City Attorney and the City Auditor. The current City budget is over $536 million which supports 2,650 full-time equivalents. In addition to all typical municipal services, Fort Lauderdale operates a municipal auditorium, a baseball stadium, the International Swimming Hall of Fame, a general aviation airport, a trash transfer station, two parking garages and seven miles of public beaches.

The Finance Director reports to the City Manager and directs the activities of the Finance Department, which includes financial planning, budgeting, accounting, revenue administration, and the billing and collecting of special assessments and service charges for the City with a department budget of over $6.1 million and 55 full time employees. The Department Director plans and coordinates the work of divisions engaged in various phases of fiscal administration, including the Accounting, Treasury, and Risk Management. The position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance AND be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA); OR have a Master’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance and have at least seven (7) years of highly responsible managerial experience in accounting, revenue administration, and other phases of fiscal management, including at least five (5) years in governmental accounting.

Salary Range: $95,326 to $145,018 plus excellent benefits. The beginning salary is open and negotiable depending on qualifications.
